Research Methodology Developed by UDG

Me sudy in English

As the lead institution of Work Package 2 – Evidence Base and Monitoring within the ME – Study in English project, the University of Donja Gorica (UDG) developed a comprehensive Methodology for Market Research on the Attractiveness of EMI Programmes in Montenegro.

The methodology was designed to provide a robust evidence base for understanding the potential of English-Medium Instruction (EMI) in Montenegro, particularly in the fields of Business and Economics. The research framework addresses student awareness and interest, factors influencing the choice of study programmes and destinations, experiences of international students and visiting professors, employers’ expectations, and the benchmarking of Montenegrin practices against those of European partner universities.

UDG developed a mixed-methods research design, integrating quantitative online surveys with qualitative structured interviews and comparative benchmarking. The methodology targets prospective students, former international students, visiting professors and representatives of international companies, while benchmarking relevant practices at the University of Zagreb and Université Côte d’Azur.

In addition to defining the research objectives and questions, UDG developed the questionnaires and interview guides, established the sampling and data-analysis procedures, incorporated ethical and GDPR considerations, and prepared a detailed implementation plan. As WP2 lead, UDG assumed responsibility for coordinating the research framework, overseeing data collection, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, and preparing the final research paper – Deliverable D2.7.

The methodology therefore established the scientific and operational foundation for one of the central research activities of the ME – Study in English project and for future evidence-based decisions regarding the development and promotion of EMI programmes in Montenegro.
